Chess Grandmaster P. Harikrishna, who is set to tie the knot with former Serbian chess player Nadezda Stojanovic on March 3 here, said her return to the game of black-and-white squares is unlikely.

“Well, Nadezda completed her graduation in economics from the Belgrade University and has no plans of pursuing a chess career as of now,” said 31-year-old Hari, who met the former chess player at world age group tournaments two decades ago.

“She quit the game in 2002 and started accompanying her younger sister and Grandmaster Andjelija on the circuit, our friendship grew stronger,” Harikrishna told The Hindu at his Hyderabad home on Tuesday.

He said the Olympiad where he would be representing India along with the likes of Viswanathan Anand, Vidit Gujarathi and Krishnan Sasikiran would be one of the biggest events for him this year. “Winning a medal there is my target,” he asserted.
