Mystery shrouds death of medico in Khammam

June 22, 2014 07:39 pm | Updated 07:41 pm IST - KHAMMAM:

A physically-challenged medico died under suspicious circumstances at her rented flat in an apartment complex in Khammam, in the early hours of Sunday.

According to sources, T. Rashi, 29, a final year MBBS student of the town-based Mamata Medical College, was found hanging in her apartment at Varadaiah Nagar in the early hours of the day.

Rashi, a native of Suryapet in Nalgonda district, and P. Chaitanya, a final year MDS student of the same college, reportedly fell in love and got married last year. The couple moved to a rented apartment a few months ago.

Rashi, who was crippled by polio in her childhood, was pronounced dead by doctors on being brought to a local hospital early in the morning. Chaitanya was present in the apartment when the incident occurred, sources added.

Uppalamma, Rashi’s mother, rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Khammam on hearing the news. In her complaint to the Khammam urban police, she alleged that Chaitanya, a native of Adilabad district, subjected her daughter to constant harassment for dowry.

She further accused him of threatening to marry another woman if Rashi failed to fulfil his dowry demand.

Khammam urban police registered a case against Chaitanya under Section 304B of the IPC.
