Four persons who claimed themselves to be policemen raped a woman and her mother on the outskirts of Ramakkapet village late last night leading to escalation of tension in the village, police officials said on Saturday/

A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the four persons and some suspects have been taken into custody already. However, no information has been disclosed so far.

Police said a 17-year-old woman, who was studying an undergraduate course, went out to greet her friends on Dasara day and four undentified persons who claimed themselves to be policemen, took out to the outskirts and raped her.

Worried over the delay in her returning home, the victim’s father and mother sent out searching for her in different directions, and the mother accosted two unidentified persons who were on a motorcycle. The duo told her that they saw her daughter and led her to the outskirts where they raped her.

Senior police officials including the sub-divisonal police officer Sridhar Reddy rushed to the spot. The victims have been admitted to the Government hospital in Dubbak.
