Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao on Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction over the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the district. He found fault with the officials for failing to ground even 20 per cent of works under the scheme.

Mr. Krishna Rao visited the district for a day and inspected the MGNREGS work at Siddulakunta village in Nirmal mandal and Kamagiri village in Ichoda mandal. He interacted with wage-seekers at both the places and found certain lacunae in implementation of the scheme.

‘Provide work to all’

The Minister told the officials to find out why workers were staying away from the job scheme, if at all they did so.

He asked them to provide work even to those who have not enrolled in the scheme.

Mr. Krishna Rao offered incentive to villages executing at least 40 per cent of works by allocating them roads, latrines and other works under the Panchayat Raj Department.

At a review meeting held later, Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, MP G. Nagesh, Collector M. Jagan Mohan and others also attended.
