Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said his government’s goal was to make the ‘Made in Telangana’ label a globally recognised brand for quality and innovation.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of 4 project of TASL and RUAG Aviation to manufacture the fuselage and wings for Dornier 228 NG (New Generation) aircraft, Mr Rao said the decision to locate the sophisticated facility in Hyderabad only demonstrated the faith and confidence that the Tata group reposed in the newly formed State and its capital. He was grateful to the group for becoming the brand ambassadors for Telangana and expressed home that it would expand operations in the State.
Using the opportunity, Mr. Rao reiterated his plans to unveil an investor-friendly industrial policy shortly. He said his aim was to ensure emergence of Telangana as a favourite investment centre for national and international agencies. He wanted to see Hyderabad develop as a leader in aerospace and defence sectors too. “We will leverage the advantages of local resources and institutions with unmatched industry-friendly governance”. He said a single window system would be set up for clearances and a special chasing cell would be formed in his office to monitor movement of files pertaining to clearances.
Mr. Rao said the partnership of Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and RUAG Aviation indicated the confidence of an established European group in the Tata’s world-renowned capability.
Chairman of Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), S. Ramadorai said the project was a significant step in India’s growth as a high-technology and precision manufacturing destination. It would reinforce Hyderabad’s position on the global aerospace map. Their vision was to work towards having a full aircraft, equipped systems flying out from a Tata Final Assembly. He recalled that in just five years, TASL had delivered over 70 Sikorsky S-92 cabins, indigenising production of the entire cabin in its joint venture with Sikorsky and delivered the ‘Empennage’ and centre wing box for the C-130 J aircraft with Lockheed Martin.
RUAG supply chain management vice-president Martin Buhlmann said the Dornier 228 aircraft was linked to India for a long time now.
