‘Lottery bandh’ today

Lottery ticket vendors and sellers in Kerala will observe a ‘‘lottery bandh’’ on February 2 in protest against the government’s policies ‘harmful’ to the sector.

The bandh was called by the Kerala Bhagyakkuri Samrakshana Samithi, having the support of all the trade unions, including the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Indian National Trade Union Congress, and the All India Trade Union Congress, samithi convener M.V. Jayarajan said at a press conference here on Sunday.

He said though the notice for the bandh had been served a month ago, the government called for a meeting to be held on February 4.
