Left parties plan protest in Hyderabad on Dec. 11

December 02, 2014 02:42 am | Updated April 07, 2016 02:25 am IST - WARANGAL:

The leaders of ten Left parties propose to stage a massive demonstration at Indira Park, in Hyderabad on December 11 protesting the indifferent attitude of the State government towards farmer suicides. S Vasudeva Reddy (CPI), M Sammi Reddy (CPI (M)), K Ravi of CPI (MLND), V Kumar RSP, J Yugandhar of Forward Bloc and others told newsmen here that they have been demanding enhanced compensation to the kin of farmers who committed suicide, from the existing Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

However, the present TRS government was not even ready to admit that farmers committed suicides due to vagaries of nature and also delayed loan waiver.

With a view to mobilise public support to the proposed dharna, the Left parties would launch a ‘bus yatra’ from December 5 in all districts.

They would cover all the mandals in all ten districts of Telangana State and tell people how the government failed to keep up its promises. All the Left parties are planning to launch a joint movement against the State government to force it to take note of plight of farmers. The TRS party which spoke greatly about the peoples’ problems has suddenly changed track after coming to power, alleged S Vasudeva Reddy.
