The State-wide jatha being organised by the farmers’ wings of ten Left parties including the CPI (M), CPI and CPI (ML-ND) demanding the government’s intervention to prevent suicides by distressed farmers, will tour the district on Tuesday.
The bus jatha will commence its district tour at M Venkatayapalem in Khammam rural mandal on Tuesday morning.
It will traverse through Rayamadharam in Yenkur mandal, Vishwanathapally in Karepalli mandal and Komararam in Yellendu mandal.
All-India Kisan Sabha vice-president S Malla Reddy, CPI Telangana State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, the Telangana Rythu Sangham State joint secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao and others will accompany the jatha, sources said.
The leaders of the Left parties and representatives of the farmers’ wings will console the bereaved family members of the farmers, who had committed suicide due to agrarian distress, in four villages as part of the jatha.
Detailing the particulars of the jatha, Nunna Nageswara Rao told newsmen here on Monday that meetings will be organised in four villages in Khammam rural, Yenkur, Yellendu and Karepalli mandals en route the jatha in the district on Tuesday.
The jatha is being spearheaded by the Rythu wings of the ten Left parties to highlight the miserable plight of the distressed farmers as well as the kin of the farmers, who ended their lives due to crop failures.
