Last of 10 lakh saplings planted!

The city Police Commissionerate has set a record by planting 10 lakh saplings as part of the Haritha Haram programme here on Wednesday.

Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu planted the last of the 10 lakh sapling on Police Parade grounds here, and said the department personnel would ensure the survival of all plants.

Mr. Babu said that initially the department targeted to plant 2 lakh saplings, but witnessing the enthusiasm among the personnel, the programme continued and went on to complete 10 lakh saplings.Sacred plants

Sacred plants such as Jammi were planted at temples, schools, and offices as people revere them, ensuring their survival.

The Mamnoor police division planted 3,96,546 saplings, Kazipet division planted 3,26,775 saplings, Warangal division planted 1,66,880, Hanamkonda division 1,03,926, and crime and traffic division planted 17,400 plants.

People from various schools, temples, and NGOs helped the police in reaching the target.

Mr. Babu said one personnel at each police was designated to oversee the growth of plants. Tree guards were also put up to protect them from cattle grazing.

ACPs (traffic) Venkateswar Rao and Eswar Rao, and Inspectors Kishan, Raji Reddy and Vishnumurthy, among others, were present.
