The district administration is leaving nothing to chance when it comes to the exercise of land purification to make sure that it is error-free. The objective is also to make it handy for officials when taking up welfare measures such as extending financial assistance to farmers.
So far, the land purification process has been completed in 222 of the total 379 villages.
According to Joint Collector Vasam Venkateswarlu, the land records of 2,86,679.24 acres have been examined while corrections were carried out for 2,73,532.28 acres leaving another 11,146.36 acres to be corrected. In a total of 2,40,069 survey numbers in the district, the titles in 2,28,232 survey numbers were clear.
Coming to khatas, there are 96,284 khatas of which 92,531 are clear while 3,759 are not. “The job is being done on priority basis. Everyone is being involved and the problems that are arising out of the process are being addressed in the presence of farmers in their respective villages,” said the officer.
