The government has so far distributed 1158.29 acres of land to 447 landless poor Dalits and tribal people at the rate of 3 acres to each family. The process of identification of eligible beneficiaries is still on. An amount of Rs. 1,000 crore had been set aside in the budget for the land purchase scheme.
This was said by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in reply to a question by S. Venkata Veeraiah and others. In a written reply, the Chief Minister said the socio-economic survey 2013-14 was the basis for identification of the poorest of the poor and landless beneficiaries.
Missing manholesThe GHMC is taking all safety measures at work sites such as diversion of traffic, providing barricading, placing caution boards and displaying red flags to avoid untoward mishaps. Regular monitoring of missing manholes and catchpit covers is being done and they are immediately replaced, Mr. Rao informed the Assembly.
Officials suspendedReplying to a question by K. Laxman (BJP), the Chief Minister said the concerned assistant executive engineers and deputy executive engineers were placed under suspension for negligence leading to the death of a person in a manhole at Himayatnagar Street 6.
