The officials were directed to lay metal road from main road to bathing ghats at Mullakatta and similarly take up strengthening of road between Royyur and Mullakatta besides, Rampur.

They were also asked to ensure revetment along banks of Godavari.

Since the ‘pushkaralu’ were being celebrated first time in the Telangana State, the government has planned to make elaborate arrangements. However, due to lack of coordination among the government departments, the works got delayed.

Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy visited sites last month and instructed the officials to ensure completion of all works by June 30. Contingency works such as erection of temporary toilets, setting up batters of drinking water pipes, erection of sheds for changing clothes at bathing ghats and sanitation were pending.

They would be taken up a few days before the beginning of ‘pushkaralu’, the Collector said. Meanwhile, people and officials were praying for good rainfall for water in the river during the ‘pushkaralu’ time.
