The free Kindergarten to Post Graduate (KG to PG) education scheme will be implemented from next academic year beginning June, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, who also holds the Education portfolio also.

Speaking at a Meet-the-Press programme here on Sunday, he said that a series of meetings would be held with all stakeholders soon. Efforts would be made to protect education in public sector on which majority of poor depended.

Referring to the vacant vice-chancellor posts and poor state of affairs in universities, Mr. Kadiam Srihari said that every thing would be set right in two months' time. "Free quality education from KG to PG is our promise and it will be implemented at all costs", he said.

On MRPS demand to drop ministers belonging to upper castes, the Deputy Chief Minister said that it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister and none could dictate terms.
