The State Government is according priority to the sand-laden lorries, which are transporting it illegally, and not to the lives of people who are coming under them, alleged TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Talking to newsmen in Karimnagar town on Monday after consoling the victims in the district jail, he flayed the Rajanna-Sircilla district police for brutally torturing innocent villagers, including dalits, by implicating them in false cases. The victims were given electric shock and some of them are suffering from kidney failure and other serious injuries, he said, adding that he represented on the issue to DGP Anurag Sharma, but in vain.
Alleging that the State police machinery is supporting illegal sand mafia as it is owned by the close relatives of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He reiterated that the party would fight till justice is meted out to the victims of police torture.
The TPCC president was all praise for former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar for the creation Telangana under her chairmanship in the Lok Sabha.
“Meira Kumar’s name would be written in golden letters in the history of Telangana,” he said amid cheers.
