Congress MLA from Jagtial T.Jeevan Reddy has urged Chief Minister of Telangana K.Chandrasekhar Rao to expedite the process of issuance of orders on loan waiver to the farmers.

Mr. Reddy, who called on Mr. Rao at the Secretariat on Tuesday, presented a memorandum listing out the woes of farmers. He said banks were refusing to issue fresh loans and demanding the farmers to clear the outstanding farm loans.

He brought to his notice that farmers, who got cheques from the Indira Kranthi Patham procurement centres for selling the farm produce faced hardships as the banks were not clearing them as the loans were not cleared.

Mr. Reddy said the Government had not yet finalised the Kharif action plan that would facilitate the farmers to secure loan. He urged the Chief Minister to issue directions to the bankers that loan recovery should be stopped immediately. Mr. Rao promised to hold a meeting of the bankers immediately to overcome the problem.
