Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will be formally launching the third phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haaram programme here on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister would participate in the plantation of saplings with 10,000 students along the shores of the LMD reservoir. Another 5,000 saplings would be planted in all the 50 municipal divisions on Wednesday. All the saplings would be protected with tree guards and fencing.
Initially, it was decided to take up plantation of ‘one day one lakh saplings’ in the town, as per the Chief Minister’s call. However, the authorities decided to take up plantation of only 15,000 saplings on Wednesday and complete the rest over a period of time.
The Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) authorities have developed a mobile app called Karimnagar Haritha Haaram to monitor the plantation, watering and protection of the planted saplings. They have appointed 50 nodal officers for all the 50 municipal divisions for monitoring the saplings. Besides, ten Green Brigade volunteers were appointed in each municipal division for the protection of saplings. GIS mapping has also been done.
In the meantime, the district authorities are leaving no stone unturned to spruce up the main roads and also the Collectorate premises where the Chief Minister would conduct a review meeting with the officials and elected representatives.
As the Chief Minister would be arriving by road from his farm house in Erravelly in Siddipet district on Wednesday, the MCK authorities beautified the bridge across the river Manair by painting and planting fully grown trees in big flower pots. The authorities also planted saplings on either side of Sircilla bypass road, from where the Chief Minister’s convoy would pass through.
