‘KCR taking all credit for formation of Telangana’

March 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - WARANGAL:

BJP general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao has accused the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and his family of taking all the credit for Telangana State formation.

The new State was formed after many sacrifices by youth and a prolonged political agitation in which the BJP played a crucial role. Though the party does not have any representation in the Parliament, its leader Sushma Swaraj and others raised the issue and argued in favour of separate Telangana.

Addressing the newsmen on Saturday, Mr. Muralidhar Rao urged the people of Telangana to vote for BJP candidate, Errabelli Rammohan Rao, in the ensuing Council elections to put a check to unilateral and anti-people decisions of the Chief Minister. “Leaving aside the promises he had made, the Chief Minister is engaged in encouraging defections from other parties and has been taking anti-people decisions,” he said.

Telangana needs a strong Opposition in the Assembly and Council. Now, people have an opportunity to send the BJP candidate to the Council where the party would work for their welfare. The BJP government at the Centre was committed towards the development of the new State. If people strengthened the party by electing its candidates, it would be easy for the Telangana BJP unit to bring in more funds, he said. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Hanamkonda on March 15 to take part in the election campaign. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya will tour the district on March 16. District president A. Ashok Reddy, senior leader N. Venugopal Reddy and others were present.
