KCR indifferent to farming community: Congress leaders

April 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - MAKLOOR (NIZAMABAD DT.):

Senior Congress leaders criticised the Government, saying that its representatives had failed to visit rain-hit areas to assess the extent of crop loss and console the farming community. They also charged the Chief Minister with whiling away time in Hyderabad at a time when it was necessary to visit rain-hit districts.

Congress leaders comprising the party working president, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former PCC president D. Srinivas, former Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy and ex-Government Whip E. Anil, on Friday went round the villages in Nizamabad (Rural), Armoor and Balkonda constituencies where paddy, sunflower, turmeric, maize and other crops were damaged due to the recent rains.

Addressing farmers at Yellareddipally in Darpally mandal, they said that they had come to get first-hand information on crop damage and to console farmers. They said that their party was always with the people whether it was in power or out of power and therefore it was credited with the implementation of pro-farmer policies.

Mr. Vikramarka said that the farming community was in great difficulty with the drought on one hand and untimely rains on the other.
