Govt. orders SIT probe into allegations of corruption in Lokayukta

July 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:34 am IST - Belagavi/Bengaluru:

In the midst of a serious public debate over which agency should probe allegations of corruption in the Lokayukta’s office, the State government on Tuesday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by IPS officer Kamal Pant, Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP)-Prisons, to conduct a probe. The Government Order has not set a deadline for the SIT to submit the report. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told presspersons in Belagavi that the government has ordered the SIT probe into bribery allegations following the Lokayukta’s request to order a probe by an official not below the rank of the ADGP. Mr. Kamal Pant told The Hindu that he would be selecting a set of officers with integrity to be part of the SIT, and would soon commence the probe.

We will soon be selecting a set of officers with integrity to be part of the SIT, and we will begin the probe soon
