‘ITIs key to industrial progress’

Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy has appreciated the efforts of the management and staff of the Government ITI for Girls here for having developed the institute as one of the best ITIs with all required facilities.

Facilities

The industrial training institutes were the key to industrial progress of the nation and they played a pivotal role in producing the skilled technicians needed to the manufacturing sector. Proposals to provide hostel and midday meal facilities would be sent to the government, he said while attending as the chief guest at the ITI Convocation here on Friday.

He expressed pleasure over the institute achieving the ISO Certificate for the second time.

The institute’s managing committee chairman and vice-president Sukhjith Starch Company K. Sreedhar said that the country’s economic development largely depended on the manufacturing sector which needs a lot of trained technicians. Therefore, the ITI qualified would have ample opportunities, he added.

“We made efforts to make this ITI on par with the engineering colleges in terms of education and training in both the Telugu States ever since I have assumed the charge as chairman in 2011. With hundred per cent pass outs and 60 per cent placements it emerged as the number one in the State,” he said.

Revenue generation

District Rice Millers’ Association president and one of the members of the management committee Dayanand Gupta said that the ITI achieved self-sufficiency by earning Rs.80 lakh by selling its own products within three years.

Convocation at ITI

The SC, ST, BC and Minority Employees’ Association president P. Lakshminarayana said that generally convocations were held in universities, but this ITI has been celebrating it for the last three years.

The Sona Society president G. Sujatha said that women had plenty of job opportunities in the fields of stitching, lacing, embroidery and cosmetics.

ITI principal K. Ram Mohan Rao presided.
