The Special Branch police have started carrying out verification of passport applications online. As part of this initiative, iPads were given to Special Branch police personnel here on Sunday.

Giving away iPads to the staff, Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy said that the department, in response to orders from the Director-General of Police, had introduced the online system named ‘Very Fast’ to expedite the passport verification process. With the introduction of this system, the maximum time limit for verification would come down to three to seven days from 10 to 15 days. Training for downloading applications, verification and sending reports to authorities concerned was imparted to the personnel, he said, adding that trained staff, henceforth, should follow the new facility.
