International summit to promote women entrepreneurship from today

Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs is organising its first Women’s International Summit on Entrepreneurship (WISE-2014) to mark its 10 anniversary at HICC here on October 18 and 19.

The conference being organised with the support from Telangana government will be attended by delegates from various organisations and countries.

The two-day summit to be inaugurated by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao and attended by Goa Governor Mridula Sinha will provide a platform for women across the globe to share experiences, learn, network and enhance business opportunities, said COWE president Soudhamini.

Giving details of the upcoming event, she said here on Thursday that about 600 delegates confirmed their participation. It would be an opportunity to promote Indian women entrepreneurs globally and showcase their infrastructure facilities, products and services in various micro, small and medium sectors.

COWE members hailing from various sectors - from manufacturing, green businesses, food processing, biotechnology and pharma to garments and textiles and fashion technology, handicrafts and artefacts, IT services, jewellery, printing and packaging, healthcare, ayurveda and herbal products - will present their products in the B2B sessions to the heads of PSUs, MNCs, CEOs of IT companies, financial institutions and retail organisations.

Eminent speakers from across the globe, government, corporate sectors would address educative and informative sessions to be held during the conference and venture capitalists would also be present to fund start-ups, she said.

Ms. Jyotsna Cheruvu, convener, WISE, said young generation of students and women were invited as they would bring their own contemporary and modern business ideas in tune with the times. Women who excelled in fine arts and turned their vocation into an enterprise would also share their experiences.

Ms. Subhashini, member, said their endeavour was to motivate, create awareness and confidence to women to turn entrepreneurs.
