Inordinate delay in issue of tax deduction certificates by banks

May 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST

Tax payers are increasingly facing inordinate delay in being issued tax deduction certificates, on various heads like monthly deductions from pay, pensions drawn through the banks and TDS certificate of deductions from fixed deposits, from banks. This is causing anxiety for account holders.

Even though Income Tax (IT) returns are to be submitted by the end of July of the next financial year, preparation of IT returns in consultation with their auditor takes time. Hence, it is necessary that banks and other financial institutions issue the certificates, especially for senior citizens very early. The Banking Ombudsman of the RBI should issue necessary instruction in this connection.

Damage to pavements

It has become a normal practice for private internet and telephone services providers to dig up pavements and roads in various parts of Hyderabad for cable laying works.

Invariably, they fail to repair the damaged portion once the work is done. Thanks to a private internet service provider, frontage and pavements of house number 1-2-288/46 at Gagan Mahal Road, Domalguda was completely damaged. The digging up and the cable laying work was taken up at the above address on March 31. Ever since, the dug up area is yet to be cleared.

The residents of the colony had made calls to the office of the internet service provider, urging it to take up repair. The dug up road and debris on the pavement has become a nuisance and a danger to pedestrians.

Signal view blocked

Motorists crossing the Bowenpally Ambedkar Circle from Suchitra to Balanagar are unable to clearly view the traffic signal pole due to a hoarding placed right in front of it. By obscuring the traffic signals and the countdown timer from motorists, the hoarding is causing a lot of confusion among pedestrians attempting to cross the circle.

It’s surprising how municipal authorities allowed a private company to set up a huge billboard right in front of a traffic signal. I request municipal authorities to take immediate action.
