An array of thought-provoking models based on innovative biomedical engineering concepts among a host of other fast evolving technologies hogged the limelight on the inaugural day of the three-day district level science exhibition, which began in Kothagudem on Tuesday.

The 45th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environmental Exhibition for Children-2017 got off to an enthusiastic start at St. Mary’s High School in the coal town.

A scintillating cultural show featuring impressive dance performances by schoolchildren marked the inaugural session.

Students from more than 200 schools including government and private schools are participating in the science exhibition.

The event is being organised by the School Education Department on the focal theme “Innovations for Sustainable Development” to promote the spirit of innovation among schoolchildren.

Models on “bionic eye” and other innovative concepts highlighting technology-aided healthcare solutions grabbed the attention of visitors.
