Science exhibitions and demonstration of working models mark the National Science Day

U. Rama Mohan, IPS, SP, Cyber Crimes, CID, Hyderabad, called upon the students to become security experts as there was a huge need for them.

Participating in the National Science Day celebrations held at GITAM University Hyderabad campus located at Rurdraram on Tuesday, Mr Rama Mohan explained about ‘Cyber Crimes & Cyber Forensics’ and explained about the precautions to be taken to prevent cyber crimes. He advised the students to learn about network security and fraud investigation, because about 20 lakh security experts would be required in the future. He also appealed to change the ATM PIN numbers once in a fortnight in the other than frequently using ATM.

Prof. N. D. Hari Das, visiting faculty, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad, gave a talk on ‘The Significance of life and science of Sir C.V.Raman’.

Prof. N. Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM University, Hyderabad, Prof. Ch. Sanjay, Principal, School of Technology felicitated the distinguished guest. Prof. G. A. Rama Rao, Principal, School of Science, Dr. R.Balaji Rao, Dr. I.V.Subba Reddy and others participated in the programme.

‘Dream big’

Special Correspondent from Mahbubabad adds: The recent launch of satellites by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has motivated youth to opt for a career in research and development, observed Joint Collector Damodar Reddy.

Participating as chief guest at the National Science Day celebrations organised by the District Science Centre at Zilla Parishad High School, he exhorted the students to dream to become great scientists in future.

He wanted the girl students to focus more on studies and make a career in research and development. “Women played a key role in recent ISRO satellite launch and you all have an opportunity in future,” he said.

District Science Officer, V Gurunadha Rao said the district administration has been conducting science exhibitions at various levels and at regular intervals to bring out hidden talents among students.

“Unlike in the past, now we have different fora where students can exhibit their talents and utilise programmes launched by the State and Central governments like Inspire,” he said.

Lions Club science wing chairman K Ramgopal Reddy said they were conducting science awareness programmes in 35 schools cross the district to encourage students.

School headmistress Y Maria Manikyam presided over the function.

Science expo

Special Correspondent from Warangal Urban adds: Commemorating the National Science Day, the Shine School has organised a science exhibition where in 1,400 students came up with 700 demonstrations of various science projects here on Tuesday.

District Education Officer S Srinivasa Chary inaugurated the science fair and NIT senior professor Y N Reddy was the guest of honour at the function.

Shine school chairman M Kumar and directors P Rajender, B Venu and M Rama were present.

The DEO and others went round fair and interacted with the students.

The students made an excellent presentation of their exhibits. They came up with thematic presentation such as culture, languages of India, temples of India, history, life styles and different science models.

Addressing the students, Mr Chary said the annual science fair at the schools provide unique opportunity for the students to showcase their talents and also develop scientific temper among them.

“These science fairs also break the monotony of routine classroom and give a chance for the students to think differently,” he said.

School chairman M Kumar explained that they started school in 2011 with 40 students and soon the strength reached 2,500 which indicates the quality of teaching a the Shine school.

Unlike other schools, they pay high remuneration to the teacher with high qualification and proficiency in teaching.

“We do not compromise on quality and hence growing from strength to strength,” he said thanking the district administration and parents for extending full cooperation.

The valedictory function was attended by MLA D Vinay Bhaskar. He appreciated the efforts of students and teachers for putting up excellent science exhibition.

Role models

Special Correspondent from Karimnagar adds: Students of Paramita High School in Mankammathota donned the roles of eminent scientists and explained about their innovations on the occasion of National Science Day, on Tuesday.

The students in the roles of Albert Einstein, Aristotle, Sir CV Raman, Jagdish Chandrabose and others captivated the gathering with their speeches on science. The students also exhibited various science models on the occasion and participated in quiz competitions.

At Bhagavathi High School in Bhagathnagar, the students also participated in science exhibition and exhibited models on global warming, water conservation, ill-effects of junk food, Swacch Bharath model etc. District Treasury Officer K Srinivas inaugurated the science exhibition organised by the students of Blue Bells Innovative school in Hanumannagar.

The students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women in Karimnagar town have also participated in the Science day celebrations and felicitated Alphores Educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy in the presence of Mayor S Ravinder Singh and others.

Lab kits distributed

Rajanna-Sircilla Special Correspondent adds: On the occasion of National Science Day, the district Science Expo-2017 funded by RG Rao Trust of Hyderabad was formally inaugurated by Collector Krishna Bhaskar in Sircilla textile town on Tuesday.

On the occasion, the students of various government schools have actively participated in the exhibition and explained about their science models.

The Collector interacted with all the students and personally conducted experiments on some science models along with the teachers. The RG Rao trust which had funded the expo also distributed laboratory kits and books to the students.
