December 15, 2014 11:29 pm | Updated 11:29 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar on Monday cautioned the Telangana Government on the fallout of some of the provisions of the Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana (FAST).

The bench was dealing with two separate writ petitions filed by former ministers Pithani Satyanarayana and Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad. They said that 1956 as cut off mark mentioned in the proposed scheme for fee reimbursement was unconstitutional.

When the case had come up for hearing ,K. Ramakrishna Reddy, advocate general of Telangana said that the scheme was only at the proposal level and rules have not been framed and notified. The bench said that such issues can encourage divisive tendencies. The bench said that the counter affidavit could be filed within three weeks and the case will be listed after Sankranthi vacations.
