Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has asked All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi to personally examine ground realities in Telangana instead of taking information given by the local Congress leaders at face value.
Speaking at a Golla Kurama meeting on Monday, Harish Rao said that Mr Gandhi was welcome to address the public meeting at Sangareddy as scheduled but, requested him to call spade a spade instead of depending on the feedback given by party leaders.
Detailing the progress made by the State, he said that Telangana stood first in the country for ease of doing business; a model for law and order. The Mission Bhagiratha initiative was appreciated by the Union Minister Uma Bharati, he said.
He claimed that Telangana was the only state in the country extending welfare schemes like Kalayana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak.
He urged Mr. Gandhi to interact with farmers from the Pulkal area and learn from them the benefits they got from State government schemes. Mr. Rao said that the State was willing to adopt any policy implemented effectively in Congress-ruled states and urged the Congress leader to acknowledge the developments taking place in Telangana.
