Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, who also holds the post of Education Minister, said he cannot comment on the ongoing inquiry into the Eamcet paper-2 leak until the CID report is submitted to the Chief Minister.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would take a decision after the report was submitted to the State government. When scores of students and parents visited him, he urged them not to panic, and said the State government would take a proper decision in a day or two. He refused to comment further.

Meanwhile, students and parents opposed cancellation of Eamcet paper-2, demanding that the government punish those responsible. The students should not be put to hardship for no reason, they said.

“The students worked hard not once but twice, and many went for long-term coaching. After having succeeded, it is wrong to cancel their exam just because somebody did wrong,” said Raveena, a parent in Hanamkonda.

Advocate Sripathi opined the same. “It was the officials and the government that bungled, why punish the students?” he said.

Another parent P. Sreeja said it was not proper to cancel examination of everybody. Only those who resorted to cheating should be disqualified and criminals should be punished severely, she said.

“My daughter studied for 18 hours every day for the exam, and secured 867th rank. The government has to ensure justice to the students,” said Md. Sadiq of Warangal.
