Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has alleged that the government is donning the role of middleman by purchasing lands under GO 123.

Speaking to reporters here along with District Congress Committee president V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and former MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy on Saturday, he said that the government is expected to acquire land for public purpose under the Land Acquisition Act- 2013, but not under GO 123, which has no mention of resettlement and rehabilitation package.

Submergence

“Supplying water for irrigation for all the districts was envisaged under Pranahitha - Chevella irrigation project envisaged by the previous Congress government. There was no submergence of villages under the older design, where as the new design submerges as many as 14 villages under Mallannasagar reservoir,” he said, adding that the social impact study needs to be conducted before proceeding further on the project under the LA Act.

He said that the market price of land should be decided on the suggestions made by the farmers and others in Grama Sabhas, instead of registration price as suggested by the government. He promised the agitating farmers that the party will stand by them. The TPCC leader also said that they are making efforts to rejuvenate the party across the State by holding meetings with party workers and leaders.
