Govt. charged with failure to help ryots

April 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - WARANGAL:

The Telugu Desam (TDP) accused the State government of failing to reach out to the farmers who suffered loss on account of sudden rainfall in the State.

TDP MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao and senior leader D. Sitakka said Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and others were touring the State to infuse confidence among the farmers, but none of the Ministers or TRS leaders were doing so.

Mr Dayakar Rao said the government has failed utterly in protecting the farmers and no section of society was happy with the party. “We have been asking the government to ensure minimum support price for paddy, cotton, chilli, maize and others. But this government did not listen to,” he said. The TDP demanded a compensation of Rs 25,000 for crops lost due to rain, Rs 15,000 for orchards and Rs 30,000 for commercial crops per acre.

The party leaders would meet Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the farmers in Telangana State.
