Gopala, Gopala off to a start, finally!

June 11, 2014 12:47 am | Updated 12:47 am IST - HYDERABAD:

‘Oh, My God!’, it’s off to a start, after a frustrating delay of a few months for all concerned with it. ‘Gopala, Gopala’, the multi-starrer with Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh essaying important roles in this Telugu re-make of the Bollywood hit film, was kicked off on Monday morning with the customary ‘puja’.

However, unlike most other films where there is a delay between the ‘puja’ (launch) and the beginning of the first shooting schedule, the makers got right down to business and continued with canning some important scenes at the Nanakramguda Studios of Suresh Productions.

Produced by D. Suresh Babu and Sharat Marar, a close friend and associate of Pawan Kalyan, the film has Shriya Saran playing Venkatesh’s wife. While Venkatesh will portray the role that Paresh Rawal played in the original, Pawan Kalyan will appear as Lord Krishna, that was effectively portrayed by the action star Akshay Kumar.

When contacted, Venkatesh said he found the subject interesting enough for him not to think about it being a re-make. “I am a believer in God and I found the role grabbing my attention because Paresh Rawal plays a non-believer in the original,” and that’s how I ended up signing on the dotted line without much ado!
