In an artistic endeavour to propagate the ideals of former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, youth, mainly comprising students from various educational institutions in the town, painted a large portrait of the visionary scientist on the sprawling Pavilion Grounds on the occasion his second death anniversary here on Thursday.

Endowed with creative ingenuity, the youngsters drew an impressive portrait of Kalam in an artistic way depicting him emerging from a giant tree in an effort to spread the message of the great scientist of India, who championed the cause of environmental protection.

The programme was organised under the aegis of Vibrants of Kalam, a non-governmental organisation, in memory of the renowned space scientist and visionary leader.

Saplings of diverse plant species, including those known for mosquito repellent properties, were distributed among the participants of the programme.

Addressing the participants, Khammam MLA P. Ajay Kumar appreciated the students for their artistic endeavour to take forward the message of Mr. Kalam, an inspiring leader, and motivate youth to take a lead role in the mission to protect environment.

Vibrants of Kalam founder Vijay said the event was organised to propagate the ideals of Mr. Kalam among youth and take a pledge to strive to realise the celebrated space scientist’s dream of creating a liveable planet earth.

The participants used eco-friendly colours in painting the giant portrait of the former President as a tribute to the nature lover.
