Absence of District Collectors of Sangareddy, Siddipet and Medak led to heated arguments between the members of ruling Telangana Rasthtra Samithi at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting here on Monday. Congress members added to the chaos by rising in support of ruling party members who were demanding action by the officials.

Repeated pleas by the ZP Chairperson Rajamani Murali Yadav to TRS members to maintain the dignity of the Zilla Parishad went in vain.

The disgruntled members were pacified by the intervention of local MLA Chinta Prabhakar, who asked the members to ensure that the members could raise questions about problems pertaining to their areas without interruptions.

Trouble began right from the moment the meeting started with Srikanth Goud taking objection to the absence of the collectors of the three districts at the meeting. He pointed out that it was not appropriate for the officials to stay away from the meeting.

Government chief whip in the Legislative Council P. Sudhakar Reddy intervened and asked the officials who were present to convey the objection of the members to the Collectors and ensure that all the Collectors were present at the Zilla Parishad meetings.

MLC V. Bhoopal Reddy wanted an explanation from the officials as to why the elected representatives could not get a progress report on works worth ₹7 crore that had been sanctioned for different constituencies. Sangareddy district Joint Collector assured the members that they would be kept informed about the progress of work.

Bill payment

Frequent interventions by another member Manohar Goud when the ruling party members were trying to highlight the issues relating to their respective areas caused some embarrassment to the ruling party.

Amid interruptions, the members raised questions about non-completion of road and drain work as also the plight of the persons displaced by the Dacharam project.

Questions were also raised on pending bills relating to road work and the members alleged that there were discrepancies in the sanction of bills.

MLA M. Bhupal Reddy wanted the officials to ensure that the bills were cleared only if the work fulfilled quality criterion.
