Did Nayeem threaten Cong. leader?

August 09, 2016 09:09 am | Updated 09:09 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

A complaint lodged with Dichpally police by Congress leader and businessman Amruthapur Gangadhar on his being threatened by an unknown person on July 16 could be one of the reasons which led to the death of notorious gangster Nayeem at Shadnagar in Mahabubnagar district on Monday, feel locals.

Gangadhar received, on July 15, a call from a mobile number which he erased later, demanding Rs.1 crore from him. The person, who called up and threatened him for money, had allegedly referred to his earnings and real estate businesses. He immediately approached the Dichpally police on the following day.

Circle Inspector of Police K. Tirupathi registered the case (Cr.No.125/16) and launched the investigation. Neither Mr. Gangadhar nor the police were aware of the persons behind the phone call and demand for money.

Incidentally, Gangadhar’s wife Kurapati Aruna is ZPTC member (Congress) from Dichpally.
