The Indalwai police on Monday arrested and sent Darpally MPP president and TRS leader Immadi Gopi to judicial remand on charge of assaulting a woman, Vadde Rajavva, of Gouraram village.

A case was booked against him under Sections 290, 323, 354 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), said Sub-Inspector of Police M. Rajasekhar.

The MPP chief on Sunday kicked Rajavva on her chest when she was hitting him with footwear. The woman fell down and immediately her son pushed him down. The video went viral on social media.

Trouble began when Gopi refused to hand over the possession of his house which he sold to Rajavva. The woman alleged that he was refusing to part with his property even after she paid the entire amount.

Meanwhile, the mandal bandh call given by the Congress evoked partial response. People in the mandal headquarters voluntarily observed bandh till afternoon. In the villages, bandh was not observed.
