Fire at cotton mill in Nalgonda destroys stocks worth Rs.10 cr

An estimated Rs. 10 crore worth of cotton was reduced to ashes as fire broke out in a private cotton spinning mill (Sri Krishna Cotton Mills Limited) located at Urumadla village of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda District here on Friday.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, workers were cleaning the premises of cotton mill with a bulldozer when a spark caused due to friction between the iron bar of bulldozer and rocks on the earth.

Within no time, the fire spread to the cotton stored on the premises of mill, reducing about 30,000 quintals to ashes. The workers immediately alerted the fire services department, who rushed to the spot with a couple of fire tenders. When the news came in last, the fire fighters were still trying to douse the fire.

However, the officials said that the situation was under control. The company belongs to a Telugu Desam Party leader Kancharla Bhupal Reddy.
