Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao called upon people’s representatives to convince farmers of the need for land acquisition so that woks at Narinja vagu would be completed at the earliest.
Participating in various development programmes held at Jarasangam, Kohir and Nyalakal along with Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy, Lok Sabha Member B.B. Patil and MLA J. Geeta Reddy on Wednesday, Mr. Harish Rao said that Rs. 5 crore was already sanctioned for this purpose and now the responsibility was with local representatives.
Mr. Harish Rao also laid foundation stone for the construction of bridge and road works at Narinja vagu. Stating that the second phase of Mission Kakaitya works would be completed with an investment of Rs 2,600 crore with 2,200 tanks taken up, the Minister said that as much as Rs. 950 crore was saved due to public participation in diverting silt removed from the tanks. “There is a good response from the public towards Mission Kakatiya,” said Mr Harish Rao.
