Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that they will waive off ₹ 2 lakh crop loan for farmers if they come to power in the next general elections. He has also promised to offer ₹ 3,000 per month for unemployed youth.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy participated in eight-kilometre padayatra from Sujalapur to Reddypally in Narsapur mandal of Medak district on Friday examining the crops that got dried up due to excessive heat and lack of water.

The programme was organised by District Congress Committee (DCC) president V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy.

“This government has turned a curse for farmers in the State. They were unable to get loans from the banks due to improper system being followed by the Government. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been criticising the Congress leaders beyond dignity. We also can use words but we cannot stoop down to that level like Mr. Rao,” said Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

He said that the Congress would offer ₹ 200 per quintal of paddy as bonus in addition to minimum support price when it comes to power.

The TPCC president has once again clarified that they were not against construction of irrigation projects, but demanded compensation under Land Acquisition Act - 2013 which was passed by the Union Government.

“None has any objection if the Government offers compensation as per LA Act- 2013. Many of the farmers who had approached the court are also demanding the same,” he said.

The Congress leaders interacted with the farmers and enquired about the crop loss. Party leaders Ponnam Prabhakar, Sravan Kumar Reddy and others participated in the padayatra.
