Congress member of the Rajya Sabha V. Hanumantha Rao on Friday urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to take up with his Kerala counterpart Oommen Chandy, construction of accommodation for pilgrims from Telangana visiting Sabarimala.
Ahead of Mr. Rao's visit to Kerala on Friday afternoon, the MP met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat and conveyed to him Mr. Chandy's offer to sanction five acres of land for pilgrims from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, who constituted the largest number of pilgrims from anywhere in the country to throng the shrine.
Mr. Hanumantha Rao explained to the Chief Minister the details of his meeting with Mr. Chandy in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
The MP told media persons at the Secretariat that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao promised to write a letter or meet Mr. Chandy, if required, for speedier steps to acquire land so that the Telangana Government can take up construction of buildings there.
The MP said he also requested the Chief Minister to regularise the land of Hanuman Vyayam Shala at Sultan Bazar in Hyderabad which is owned by the housing board.
