Scores of Congress leaders staged a demonstration and burnt the effigy of the Central government opposing the President’s rule in Uttarkhand here on Wednesday.
Led by District Congress Committee (DCC) president N. Rajender Reddy, former chief whip G.V. Ramana Reddy, former Mayor E. Swarna, Namindla Srinivas, E.V. Srinivas and others burnt the effigy of the Central government. They also raised slogans against the Narendra Modi government.
'BJP created rift among Congress MLAs'
Mr. Rajender Reddy said the BJP accused the Congress of imposing President’s rule several times in several States while in Opposition. The BJP was doing the same. It was the BJP that created a rift among Congress MLAs in Uttarkhand and toppled the government. People would teach the party a fitting lesson in the next elections, he said.
Mr G.V. Ramana Reddy said the people have lost faith in the BJP. The Modi government earned a very bad name with its fascist policies. The misrule of the BJP was evident with the unrest on university campuses across the country. The ongoing anti-people policies and failure to keep up promises eroded peoples’ trust. “The BJP and Mr. Modi said they can run the country without collecting Income Tax and just by bringing back foreign black money. Mr. Modi has not even exempted little sum from IT to benefit a large section of salaried class in the country,” he pointed out.
‘BJP resorting to undemocratic actions’
Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: Congress party cadres led by DCC president Taher bin Hamdan, here on Wednesday, burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning the imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hamdan alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was resorting to undemocratic actions by overthrowing popularly-elected governments in the States. With the revengeful actions of the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the governments collapsed, he said.
He strongly condemned what he called the “dictatorial attitude of the Centre”.
