The health authorities will soon hold talks with super-speciality hospitals in Hyderabad for fully implementing the much touted cashless healthcare scheme meant for government employees, pensioners and their families. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had launched the scheme recently but super-speciality hospitals have not entered into MoU with Government to implement the scheme.
As a result, scores of employees, their relatives and pensioners are suffering as they are unable to make use of the scheme and get themselves admitted for illness to super speciality hospitals of their choice. There’s a lot of confusion among the employees because so far the State Government has not been able to convince super-speciality hospitals to join health scheme.
“We are very much aware of the situation and will hold talks with the private hospitals to resolve the issue. We have asked our Arogyasri officials to coordinate with super-speciality hospitals on healthcare scheme. Moreover, there are other hospitals in Hyderabad who are with us and are accepting medical admissions,” said Principal Secretary, Health and Medical, Suresh Chanda.
Meanwhile, the employees, beneficiaries and pensioners have pointed out that there was lack of clarity on several issues. “The government issued its order on November 3, but what happens to persons who were getting treatment before that? There is no clarity on such questions. Moreover, there are very few reputable speciality hospitals where we can go for treatment. The State government has to quickly resolve the issue,” is the refrain from government employees.
Earlier, the Telangana Super Speciality Hospitals Association (TESHA), a group of top super-speciality hospitals in Telangana, met Mr. Suresh Chanda to voice their reservations on the guidelines to implement healthcare scheme. The TESHA representatives want a raise of anywhere between 20 to 30 per cent in the rates offered by the State Government to implement the scheme.
