TS to auction such lands to check encroachments in future

Chief Secretary to the Telangana government Rajiv Sharma has directed the Collectors of 10 districts in the State to identify valuable and litigation-free government lands.

In a video conference held with the Collectors at the Secretariat here on Saturday, the Chief Secretary said they were required to identify lands which had no legal problems as the government has decided to auction such lands in order to check encroachments in future. He told them to conduct survey of such lands and prepare comprehensive reports along with photographs and the market value.

The Chief Secretary told the Collectors to take up the work on priority basis and treat it as a most urgent issue by forming district-level committees. He told them to send the reports on the survey to the government as soon as the work was completed.

Responding to the Chief Secretary, Hyderabad District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena said there were three important stages in identification of such lands including re-examining the data prepared in the past, inspection of lands by officers above the rank of Tahsildars at field-level and deciding the land use issues.

Mr. Meena stated that there were 127 State and Central government organisations located in Hyderabad besides territorial offices and integrated complexes. He suggested that the committee should have members (officials) from GHMC, ULC, HMDA, Registration and other departments.

Further, he suggested division of such identified lands for residential and commercial needs and taking the help of experts in deciding their market value. Principal Secretary (Revenue) B.R. Meena and other officials participated.
