Charminar, Kakatiya arch in ‘T’ logo

Finally, the Telangana government logo is out. Decorated Kakatiya arch stands out in the circular emblem in green colour with the Charminar image at the centre. Superimposed on the arch is the national emblem, the Lion Capital. Government of Telangana in English, Telangana Sarkar in Urdu and Telangana Prabhutuvam in Telugu is written in the rounded logo. At the bottom is the words - Satyameva Jayate in Hindi meaning truth alone triumphs.

Chief Minister designate, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, is stated to have approved the logo. Last week, it triggered a controversy with the Majlis president, Asaduddin Owaisi, suggesting reflection of Hyderabad’s icon, Charminar, in the logo. The BJP leader, G. Kishan Reddy, immediately shot down the proposal saying the Majlis considered Charminar a religious symbol and therefore it can’t be part of government logo.

“What is Telangana without Charminar. It is a historical landmark and the place where the foundation of Hyderabad was laid. How can it be a religious symbol”, asks Mr. Owaisi.
