Minister for Information Technology and Industries K.T. Rama Rao, on Friday, urged the Union Government to provide a grant of Rs.105 crore to the TS government towards setting up an international leather complex at Station Ghanpur village in Warangal district.
Mr. Rao presented the project proposal estimated at Rs. 270 crore prepared by IL&FS Cluster Development Initiative Limited on an extent of 117 acres, to the Union Commerce Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, when he called on her in New Delhi.
The Minister also urged the Centre to expedite the proposed new policy for integrated solar PV manufacturing and put out the draft in public domain to enable prospective investors to go through it, give suggestions and even start planning for the investment at the earliest. Pointing out that the demand for solar PVs was going to rise in view of the power purchase agreements (PPAs) finalised not only in Telangana but in other parts of the country, he observed that the finalisation of the new policy will ensure PVs made in India remain competitive in the global supply chain. The government was planning to firm up PPAs for 3,000 MW early next year while it was 2,500 MW last year.
The Minister also took to the notice of Ms. Sitharaman the delays in clearances in meat processing forcing exporting companies to pay high price at the ports for vessel parking and at times, the perishable commodity is getting wasted too.
Mr. Rao was informed of the issue when he was recently at Colombo (Sri Lanka) to participate in the Human Capital Summit there. He apprised the Union Minister of the apprehensions among Lankans about the Indo-Sri Lanka Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement.
Speaking at the 13 convention of National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) held in New Delhi, Mr. K. T. Rama Rao said the Telangana Government had agreed to 31 out of 40 demands of the real estate bodies and encouraging the sector in every possible manner. He explained that the realty sector was recovering from the slowdown in the State. Later, Mr. Rama Rao met top executives of Pfizer India, Johnson & Johnson and other pharmaceutical companies and explained them the investment opportunities.
