BJP seeks probe into worker’s death

April 28, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

BJP leader Yendala Lakshminarayana demanded that the Government order a thorough investigation into the alleged suspicious death of a hotel worker Shankar (21) that occurred at Badapahad under Varni police station limits on February 10.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he accused the police of being under pressure from ruling party leaders and therefore failed to make efforts to crack the case.

He said the culprits who beat up Shankar severely and after confirming that he was dead, burnt the body with petrol in the forest, for his fault of stealing one hundred rupees from cash draw at hotel for his needs. Later they (accused) bribed Shankar’s mother and elder brother who are into begging at Badapahad dargah and threatened them to give wrong statements and leave the place for their native village Alladurgh in Medak district, he said.

‘Investigation stopped’

The police on their part did not act and stopped the investigation with just filing an FIR, he said.

Demanding the suspension of the SP for his alleged inaction, the former MLA said that if the police failed to arrest the accused immediately the BJP cadres would stage dharna in front of the police station on April 30.

“My party will call for a district-wide bandh on the issue. We in our party core committee are discussing the issue and launch an agitation in a phased manner,” said Mr. Lakshminarayana.
