Water from Sri Ram Sagar Project reservoir will reach Adilabad town by Sunday evening as Mission Bhagiratha works enter the last phase of execution in the Nirmal-Adilabad section. Engineering officials are currently busy scouring the lengthy Mission Bhagiratha pipeline which will bring water to the old filter beds in town.

Water from the SRSP is being pumped into the Mategaon facility in Nirmal district from where it will be pumped to the Arepalli ground level balancing reservoir near Arepalli village in Nirmal bypass road. From this point water will flow through pipeline to Adilabad town by gravity.

Deputy Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply, Ichoda Division, A. Sandeep told The Hindu on Saturday that scouring takes place every 2 to 5 five km to ensure that the pipeline is cleaned and the flow of water is smooth.

The rate of water flow is 1.15 m/sec, he added.

There are 869 habitation which will benefit once potable water flows in the pipelines in Nirmal and Adilabad district. The water is likely to reach the filter bed some time on Sunday evening.
