The teams comprising 30 artistes would campaign on the efforts to convert the ODF villages into model villages by synergising education, healthcare, ICDS, employment and Panchayat Raj schemes till March 22.

Each team was provided with a mobile van, an LCD projector, DVDs and screens, publicity material and short films to be screened.

Three events every day

Flagging off the kalajatha (voyage of artistes), Collector Yogitha Rana said that the teams planned to stage three programmes every day in the villages.

They would stay in the village where they staged the programmes and strictly follow the time.

The response to the cultural activities on the particular subject would be closely monitored, she said.

Advising the artistes make maximum effort to encourage people through their song and dance to take part in the implementation of the government schemes, she felt that there was an imperative need for all the villages to acquire infrastructure which a model village could get.

Parameters for

model villages

The villages were classified into model villages basing on the parameters of enrolment of all the pregnant women, immunisation to children, regular medical examinations, provision of nutritious food to pregnant women and children under the Aahara Lakshmi Scheme, 100 per cent institutional deliveries, digital teaching in the government high schools, education for all, development of libraries, facilities in Anganwadi centres, ISLs in every household, employment and improvement of groundwater level through EGS works and sanitation.
