Collector D. Ronald Ross has said that efforts have already begun to conduct the 12-day Godavari Pushkaralu in a smooth manner from July 14 to 25 in the district and for which 14 bathing ghats with an estimated expenditure of Rs.27.50 crore at eight places are being constructed.
Addressing the gathering of all sections of people after unfurling the tri-colour national flag in connection with the 65th Republic Day celebrations on Police Parade Ground here on Monday, the Collector said that out of the 14 bathing ghats, nine were being set up afresh. An estimated 37 lakh devotees were expected to take a dip in the Godavari during pushkaralu, he added.
He said the Chief Minister left his mark in describing development and it must be in such a manner that it should bring changes in living standards of people. He said so many programmes and schemes were formulated for the well-being of the poor and downtrodden.
Meanwhile, the Republic Day was celebrated at all private and public offices across the district.
Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy unfurled the flag at District Police Office, while District Judge Shameem Akhtar on District Court Complex.
