All tribal villages to get approach roads

Tribal Welfare Minister A. Chandulal on Sunday said all tribal villages and hamlets will be connected with approach roads in the next three years. He said that the Government had given top priority to tribal welfare by allocating additional funds.

Chairing the governing council meeting of Integrated Tribal Development Agency at Utnoor, the Minister said that Rs. 73 crore was released for linking 2,331 villages during the current financial year. Among other measures that the Government undertook to improve the lot of tribals was coaching 180 unemployed tribal youth to appear for the Civil Services and State level Group examinations.

Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna said that the Government had initiated several measures to control the spread of seasonal diseases. Tribals would be given quality medical treatment even in the remote agency villages, he added.

Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa criticised the medical and health services in the rural areas which had resulted in spread of seasonal diseases. Khanapur MLA A. Rekha Naik, Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi, Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah, Mancherial MLA N. Diwakar Rao and Mudhole MLA G. Vittal Reddy also attended.

The Ministers and Adilabad MP G. Nagesh earlier inaugurated a Tribal Youth Training Centre at Adilabad constructed at a cost of Rs. 3 crore. They also laid foundation stones for several development works including Girijan Bhavans in tribal mandals.
