Adivasis plan ‘Chalo Secretariat’ on Dec. 4

As many as six Adivasi organisations have chalked out an agitation programme to press their six-point charter of demands including scrapping of Chellappa Commission on ST reservations, setting up of a Tribal University in the district and effective implementation of laws relating to the Fifth Schedule Areas.

Six Adivasi organisations including the Adivasi Samkshema Parishat, Adivasi Nayakpodu Samithi, Adivasi Konda Reddis Sangham, Adivasi Vidyarthi Samkshema Parishat, Chenchu Seva Sangham and Adivasi Students’ Forum have called for a ‘Chalo Secretariat’ protest programme on December 4 in pursuit of their demands.

Their other include grant of pattas to Adivasis under the Recognition of Forest Rights Act, removal of the plain tribe that was included in the ST list in 1976, withdrawal of Agency certificates given to the members of the plain tribe community in the Fifth Schedule areas and scrapping of the proposal to include some sub-castes in the ST list, among others.
